Press & speaking
"In Bangladesh, AI isn't
coming for your job.
Not knowing how to use it is."
Available for talks, panels, and interviews on AI and the future of work in Bangladesh and the Global South — from someone teaching it on the ground, cohort by cohort, not theorising from a distance.
In the press
The work made the news.
Bangladeshi media covered Urban Academy and its founder directly — on camera and in print, the same week in December 2024. Not a press release he wrote. A newsroom that came looking.

On camera with Sangbad Sarabela
A filmed interview billed "Alamin Mumit — Urban Academy, CEO and Founder," walking through the school, the method, and the case for building with AI in Bangla.

In print, the same week
A newspaper feature profiling the founder and the school — independent coverage, not a paid placement.

Speaker bio · lift as-is
A marketer-turned-founder, teaching 1,200+ Bangladeshis to build with AI — one bootstrapped cohort at a time.
Alamin Mumit spent a decade running key accounts for the European Union delegation in Bangladesh and, later, as Head of Sales & Marketing at Area71, before bootstrapping Urban Academy — an AI-skills school for ordinary Bangladeshis, not engineers. In under two years he has trained 1,200+ students across eight cohorts, teaching in Bangla to a UK-accredited (CPD) standard and placing 50+ graduates into paid client work. He builds in public too: his live BhuKompo earthquake monitor was shipped in front of a class to teach the whole method end to end, and Chat Bondhu — Bangladesh's first Bengali AI chatbot — is proof the tools don't have to arrive in someone else's language.
