BhuKompo
ভূকম্প
A real-time earthquake monitor for Bangladesh — live seismic data, an interactive map, a probabilistic risk model, and a plain-language guide. Shipped as a live web app to teach the whole method, end to end. It reads risk. It never claims to predict.
Monitoring real-time USGS seismic activity within ~700 km of Dhaka.
Full consoleFour instruments
Everything reads live, in public, where you can check it.
Activity console
Every M≥2.5 event 2024–2026 — timeline, magnitudes, depths, alerts, and the models behind the numbers.
I·02Map, data & analysis বাংলায়
১০৮ বছরের ডাটা on an interactive map — fault lines, history, stress meters and city-by-city risk, in Bangla.
I·03Data visualization
The global picture in charts — is the earth really shaking more, and what actually connects to Bangladesh.
I·04Risk model & guide
The probabilistic model, explained without jargon — what the numbers mean for Dhaka, and what they don't.
Why build it in public
The best way to teach a method is to run it where everyone can see.
BhuKompo isn't a demo of AI — it's a working system reading real data. Building it live, in front of a cohort, is how I teach the whole loop: gather the data, model it honestly, ship something people can actually use, and never overclaim what it can do.
Real USGS data
Not mock numbers — the actual seismic feed.
Monitor, not oracle
It reads risk. It never claims to predict.
Built for Bangladesh
In Bangla, centred on Dhaka and the region.
In public
Shipped where anyone can watch it work.
